Happy Birthday to Ruth and Mary

Since this blog was started after Ruth's birthday on the 11th, and Mary's birthday is the 31st, I am going to take this opportunity to post their joint birthday party pictures taken earlier this month. We had a really fun party with our close friends. All the kids made their own gingerbread houses out of graham crackers and candies. We then had two kinds of cake and opened gifts.
Happy Birthday Ruth and Mary, I love you!! Mom

And a few more for good measure

Drum roll please...

Christmas Day pictures. As promised.

Monday, December 29, 2008

So for anyone (is there anyone out there?) reading this blog, I made a big promise to get Christmas pictures up. Before today.
Well, I have had a crazy day wearing my property manager hat, making business calls, and running errands. So, since the line at the post office stretched out of the door and onto the sidewalk, I will post the pictures... soon.
Yah, soon.
I can do that.
Can't I?

A Grinchy Christmas

Here is Mary with the maze she did to get the Grinch to his cave.

Here is a picture of Ruth with her mask, and the other page was a maze worksheet.

What we do for school on Christmas Eve

This year we watched "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", read the story, and then did a couple of activities.

Pop Quiz:
1. What was the Grinch's awful idea?
2. Where did the Grinch live?
3. What is the dogs name?
4. What was the first thing the Grinch took?
5. What did the Who's eat at the feast?

Nickname update

Mary is still insisting we call her Rosemary, Ruth has forgotten last nights discussion.

Nicknames

Ruth is now Lizard, and we are to call Mary RoseMary.
We'll see how long this lasts.

Mary's School Day

Today Mary finished her unit on Princesses.
We read many Disney stories the past two weeks, and then she built a lapbook around the theme of princesses. She learned about friendship, helpfulness, manners, privilege and responsibility. It was a really great lesson for her, and we had a lot of fun putting the book together.

Ruth's Day of School

Ruth choose to read "Magic Tree House: Dinosaurs before Dark" for her unit study book. We just finished the book today, and it was a really fun unit for both of us.
In addition to reading the book, Ruth made a "book" of her own.
It includes a map of Pennsylvania, a book report, math pages, cross word puzzles, and other activities.
This is the first unit study she has chosen on her own, and she did a great job with all the work I put in front of her!

Photo's

Sorry about the quality (or lack there of) of the pictures. I got the kids a (cheap) digital camera last week, and have been using those pictures for the blog as they are easier to access.
I will the better regular camera on Christmas, and post the better pictures from then on.

How do kids know it is the weekend?

For my kids the weekend is defined by two things.
1. Mom doesn't cook, so if you are hungry there are chicken wings, cereal, or left overs.
2. You get to take a bath.

Yep, when you're a kid, weekends RULE!!

Happy Birthday Matt!

Today was a milestone.
Matt turned 30!
Happy Birthday baby, I love you.
